"I'm Already There"
I learned how to use GarageBand tonight. :) I needed a pick-me-up when I wrote this song. Link is below if you're interested in hearing what I churned out.

"I'm Already There" on Putfile

I'm Already There
In my mind, there is a memory
from a time long ago
of a young girl, whose life was a fantasy
a fairy tale someone wrote

I used to be a different me
and then I realized
life is not a storybook
and if I open up my eyes

Refrain:
I can do what I want to do
be who I want to be
I don't need some prince charming
to come and rescue me
I can dance like no one's watching
sing like no one cares
keep your happily ever after, darling
cuz I'm already there

Bet you think I'm waiting
all night by the phone
but call me any Friday night
you'll find nobody home

I confess this is a test
so tell me what you see
don't look back, I'm miles ahead
and I'm on a different frequency

Refrain 2:
I am who I am
not who I used to be
I don't need some white knight
to come and fight for me
I can live in my tomorrow
and love because I care
don't ever say I lost my way
cuz I'm already there

Interlude:
I'm sick and tired of waiting
for answers to arrive
and thinking that someday I'll get a sign
why look all around you
when the answers are inside
and everything I want's already mine

Refrain 3:
I can do what I want to do
Be who I want to be
I thought I had to hide away
but now I'm breaking free
I can stand with both arms open
feel the wind blow through my hair
don't tell me it's gonna be all right
cuz I'm already there

I'm already there (repeat)

As you were.

Well done V, sounds great! Never used any of those Mac programs though, was it hard? And what spawned this little feat of creation ;-)

Actually, I'm going to request an a capella version of this, similar to Book 7 Blues!

Oh, a whole bunch of things. A bunch of us have been feeling down (present company included), so it was time to write something a little... sunnier. :) I'm happy you like it!

Hehehe... But I like to dance!

And yeah, I'm totally going the indie route. Only less... indie. ;)

I so need an IMAC icon :P

well there's nothing wrong with dancing, I just prefer the more intimate kind myself *IMAC*

as to the indie, true, more Nessa than Indy, I don't see you traipsing all over the worl for long lost relics ;)

ROFLMAO. I just figured out what IMAC means. AHAHAHAHA!

And hey, there's a lot of fun to be had in traipsing all over the world!

These are awesome lyrics! To be honest, I've never been a big fan of the processed-sounding drums on programs like Garage Band, but I love the melody and lyrics. I love your voice, too, but I think you knew that already. :)

I'm happy you enjoy the lyrics! And I hear ya on the processed drums - but processed drums is better than no drums, in my book! I have the ghetto version of GarageBand (the one that's not pimped out with all the special dohickeys), and I figured it was time to play with it. Nothing spectacular, but a good time nonetheless!

This was amazing! I'm totally jealous of your voice (me being tone-deaf and all). It definitely made me want to dance.

So happy you liked it! It was an uber low-budget attempt at something, and I'm not sure if I really want to keep the dance beat, but I'm thrilled you enjoyed it!

YEAH! This was such a lovely song, V. You're going to be seriously famous one day, and I can say, "I went to LiveJournal with her!" Hehehe.

Hahahaha... You're too funny. I don't see fame in my future. I'm not pretty enough, and I like the behind-the-scenes too much. ;)

Anyway, I'm chuffed that you liked it!

Awesomeness!! You have more talent in you little finger then the rest of us have combined. I love the lyrics. This is seriously something to blast on the stereo and sing along with. How you are able to sing backup on your own song is a mystery to me. It only means that you have some killer computer abilities too I guess.

*hugs*

*boggles at your talent* (Seriously, V, you're a writer, an artist, and you sing???)

Wow. I really liked that, V. And so did my four-year-old, for what it's worth--he was dancing while it was playing. (Actually, he has perfect pitch and is very musical, so him liking it is a good thing. :D)

The beginning put me in mind of Janis Ian, but by the time I remembered her name, I decided it sounded way too contemporary (which for me is anyone after 1970) and not having anyone to compare, so to me, it was wonderfully unique.
Thank you!

Loved the vocals, the keyboard, the words, the message. I did find the techno-percussion distracting. Look forward to future music from you!
Peace,

wow, that was wonderful. I love the lyrics and your voice, though your voice sounds so different in a recording (I think I like you better live, going to give concerts sometimes? *g*). The techno gets over powering as the song progresses and becomes really distracting about the middle. Still, it was very good and I must say I envy your talent.

Are there going to be more in the future?
