First of all, I'm so completely and utterly stoked about all the positive feedback from my last picture. Thank you for popping in to tell me what you think, and I hope the second in that series doesn't disappoint! (This pic is not it, BTW.) I've just returned from the second wave of traveling for work, so I'm hoping to get back on LJ and catch up on replies and the flist. Just... bear with me for a bit while I get my life back in order. :)

In the meantime, more art?! This is for Shannon (aka. [info]pennswoods), who I'll be catching up with in San Antonio as well. I haven't drawn a pic this angsty in... well, I don't think I've ever quite drawn a picture this angsty...

Title: Anatomy of a Villain
Rating: PG-13 for partial nudity
Medium: Digital
Characters: Severus Snape
Notes: This picture is supposed to be circa 1981 after Lily is snuffed out. I imagine this as the moment when Snape decides what team he's really playing for, and what his allegiances have truly stripped him of.

He was never yours from the moment you threatened her... )

Be back in a bit!

MAN, it's been a long time since the last art update! Nate, this one's for you (the other parts are in the progress of being made). You'll get the prints when I get to Texas. :)

Title: Moving Portrait I
Medium: Digital
Rating: G
Characters: Harry, Ginny, Lily, James, Albus
Notes: Nate gave me a list of possible prompts since I owed him a picture, and included among them a series of post-DH family portraits. This is the first (Ron and Hermione's fam are coming up next). I love me some moving portraits. :) I also love that Albus is the only one actually looking at the camera.

Arnold makes a comeback. )

Sorry I've been sucking so much at answering comments - RL has me in a headlock! (Pics from Arizona ahead...)

Life has been outta control busy lately. The good news is that I can finally say a little bit about what's been tying me up. Basically, I'm the project manager for this:

Laura Bryna to be the New Voice of Air Guard Campaign

I probably won't be home for the next three months because of all this, but it's exciting and I'm thrilled to be working on it. Laura is absolutely wonderful, and she really believes in the Air Guard mission, which makes my job a lot easier. :)

In the meantime, I'm still having a bit of my own fun here and there, as evidenced by the above video and the Quidditch Pitch Art below. :) Once again, thank you Sidney for being so fantastic and taking time to bond with me at the museum. (And thank you, Vidalia, for suggesting the museum in the first place!)

Anyway, onto the artses...

Title: "Reluctant Hero" for Shannon
Rating: G
Medium: Digital
Characters: Ron, Hermione, evil fire demons...
Notes: Ron looks a little testy. This is because, when I drew it, I was thinking about the moment when Harry goes back to save Draco and Ron expresses his outrage. It was unintentional. ;)

Real men fly brooms through fire. )

I'm really sorry for not being around more - as you can see, there's been some overwhelming stuff on my plate where work is concerned - but just know how much I appreciate you guys and the feedback you've given me. We're projecting September as the month when all this will die down, at which point, I really hope I can get on here more. Keep your fingers crossed...

You know I couldn't pass on a Harry/Ginny fic/art exchange.

Title: "Care to Raise the Stakes?" for [info]itsbeenvery
Rating: PG (for the hint of what's to come...)
Characters: Harry and Ginny
Medium: Digital
Notes: I was originally going to title this "Solitaire for Two" but thought better of it considering the floating poker chips needed explaining. [info]itsbeenvery's prompt was tough, the key phrases being "gambling" and "jabberwocky" and I was a little lost on how to convey the latter! In any case, I hope she likes it! Many thanks to [info]r_becca for putting together the "Changing Seasons Exchange"! (The 'season' is sort of located outside the picture... imagine looking in through a snowy window...)

Two of Hearts? )

And with that, I depart - I'm heading to New York tomorrow, but I promise to get back on here Saturday night from my remote location to share some England trip news and updates on what on earth has been keeping me away from LJ!

Happy Spring to all...

Rushing to get these up before work today - as you know, we don't get LJ access at the office anymore because the Air Force thinks that anything that qualifies as "recreational" on the internet should be blocked. (I think it actually takes me longer to get through my daily tasks because of this. My brain is virtually melted by the end of my workday without my Yahoo!Radio, LJ, or web e-mail.)

In any case, it's Valentine's Day, and I come bearing the first art of 2008. I hope you enjoy them, as they are some of my favorite incarnations of Love from HP. May your day be filled with Love.

Title: "It Did For Me" for [info]mosaic
Medium: Graphite
Characters: Harry, Albus Severus
Rating: G
Notes: I wanted to call this "Mini-Me". Albus looks so small, I want to put him in my pocket.
Summary: "It doesn't matter to us, Al. But if it matters to you, you'll be able to choose Gryffindor over Slytherin. The Sorting Hat takes your choice into account."

"Really?"

"It did for me."
- Epilogue, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

He had never told any of his children that before, and he saw the wonder in Albus's face when he said it. )

Title: "The View" for [info]red_heather
Medium: Charcoal and Pastel
Characters: Harry and Ginny
Rating: G
Notes: Red asked me for this ages ago - a H/G picture that featured them enjoying one another's company in the winter - and I really enjoyed getting my hands all dirty for this one. Wouldn't you take advantage of that gorgeous Hogwarts landscape if you were trying to woo a Weasley?

Watch your step. )

Title: "Feel You Near" for [info]reallycorking
Medium: Watercolor
Characters: Harry and Ginny
Rating: PG for battle scars
Notes: Oddly enough, one of my favorite H/G moments in DH because of the connection between them that you can infer without an explicit description of it. I didn't have the book with me when I drew it, so I'd forgotten that Ginny was holding the girl's hand instead of, well, holding the girl! Either way, RC, I hope you like it. :)
Summary: Ginny was kneeling beside the injured girl now, holding her hand. With a huge effort Harry forced himself on. He thought he saw Ginny look around as he passed, and wondered whether she had sensed someone walking nearby... - The Forest Again, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

He wanted to shout out to the night, he wanted Ginny to know he was there... )

Part Deux on the way.

Arting once again: Christmas Card 2007 and Art for [info]shocolate
There is actually more artwork for a huge number of folks... only in the process of moving stuff out of my room, like an idiot, I put the pictures in a "safe place" and now I have no idea where I've put them. Needless to say, I'm scouring the place because I sure as hell hope I didn't lose them! *weeps*

Anyway, here are the two that I recovered from the boxes...

Title: "Tag Team" for [info]shocolate
Rating: G
Medium: Watercolor
Characters: Harry and Ron
Notes: I like guys who play Quidditch. ;)

Go get 'em, tiger. )

Title: "Home For the Holidays"
Rating: G
Medium: Colored Pencil and Ink
Characters: (Left to Right) Arnold the PygmyPuff, Ron, Hugo, Hermione, Kreacher, James, Lily, Bill, Arthur, Molly, Fleur, Albus, Victoire, Harry, Ginny, Teddy, Rose
Notes: Took me over a month to draw, but I like to think it was worth it. I also think it's poetic justice that Victoire Weasley should be a tomboy. ;)

I can't believe I'm stuck with all these blood traitors all I got was this Jello mold. )

SO now that that's done, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanzaa, and a Blessed Solstice! Thank you for your constant friendship and support (especially with the loss we experienced two weeks ago). You reinforce daily why the LJ community is so wonderful. May you each be surrounded with love this holiday season!

I've become such a lazy scanner. Some of this stuff is drawn on a piece of paper too big for my scanner, so I wind up having to scan it in two parts, and then there's the assembling of it, and then tweaking it so it's the same gradient as what I actually drew, and blah. This is why, while I've been drawing stuff lately, I decided to just conserve it until I had collected enough spare time to scan it all. And anyway, I like when other folks do art dumps, so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon. :)

Title: "Teen Wolf" for [info]emotionalwench
Rating: PG for hairy chest. lol
Medium: Graphite
Character: Young Remus Lupin
Notes: [info]emotionalwench said she rather liked Lupin as a character and I promised her a picture of him, not realizing at the time that I was curious as to how Lupin's transformation must've been like while he was still a young 'un. Poor kid.

Fear the Moon. )

Title: "Girl Talk" for [info]sun_chan
Rating: G
Medium: Graphite
Characters: (Foreground to Background) Luna, Ginny, Hermione, Parvati, Lavender
Notes: To cheers you up, Sanna. Nothing quite like hangin' out with your pals to make things feel a little less gloomy.

An Excess of Estrogen )

Title: "Neville and the Sixth Horcrux" for [info]mosaic
Rating: G
Medium: Graphite
Characters: Neville and Nagini
Notes: I didn't realize how hard it would be to make Neville look mad. He's always so passive and cute in my mind!
Excerpt: "In one swift, fluid motion, Nevill broke free of the Body-Bind Curse upon him; the flaming hat fell off him and he drew from its depths something silver, with a glittering, rubied handle --" - Chapter 36: The Flaw in the Plan, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

...a single stroke... )

Title: "NO!"
Rating: G
Medium: Graphite
Characters: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny
Notes: An older pic I never posted. Technically, this is unfinished and I'll likely never finish it, but I do like what I was able to complete of it, flawed though it is. :)
Excerpt: "He squinted again for a single second and saw the open doorway filling with people, as the survivors of the battle came out onto the front steps to face their vanquishers and see the truth of Harry's death for themselves." - Chapter 36: The Flaw in the Plan, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Harry! HARRY! )

Title: "Happily Ever After" for [info]pennswoods
Rating: G
Medium: Colored Pencil and Ink
Characters: Luna, Neville... Shannon and Francis :)
Notes: A looonnng overdue wedding gift for Shannon and Francis. She said I could post it here, so here it is! Though it's not a commission, look and please don't touch. And yeah, Neville's face is all screwed up because it's a lot of effort to make words appear in the air, and he's a little concerned he may, in error, blow something up. ;)

Congratulations! )

And now, I'm off to class! :D

(Also, there's another art dump ahead, but I'll have to get around to that one later!) Have a great day :)

Let's try again. Commission Art for [info]simons_flower!
So I've been wretchedly antisocial lately, what with working like whoa at my job and numerous other real life tasks, but let me say for the record that things are actually pretty good these days and despite everything I can't complain. I've started my art class, and it is positively everything I hoped for! I got a little misty in my second class when we had our first model and it hit me what I was actually doing. I had to put a poker face so as not to offend Gabe, who was standing naked before 16 of us. lol

Anyway, when things get quiet around here, it's generally a sign that I'm working on projects, and this one has me feeling mildly proud probably because of no other reason than that the rubble actually looks like rubble. YES.

Title: Restoration
Rating: G
Characters: Harry, Ron, Hermione
Medium: Digital (Photoshop & Alias Sketchbook)
Notes: So [info]simons_flower's prompt read as follows: Trio, friendship and other. Post-Voldemort defeat, walking off the battlefield, there for each other in every way. Since book seven didn't necessarily happen on a battlefield, I tried to reproduce a wounded Hogwarts in the background instead. I hope I conveyed the "there for each other"-ness. :) This picture was hella fun.

Commission for [info]belovedranger: Starry Night
Haven't been feeling terribly well, but I just got Blades of Glory on DVD, so I'm not too bad off, all things considered. :) I have about 200 e-mails to go through since I went off the map, so if you've written me and I haven't written back, gimme a little bit to catch up. :) Also, there's a lot of pimping to do, and I promise to do so as soon as I'm able to keep my eyes open. In the meantime, a painting and the promise of some graphite sketches and birthday art ahead. :)

Title: Starry Night
Rating: G
Medium: Acrylic on 16x20 Watercolor Board
Characters: Harry, Ron, Hermione
Ship: Ron/Hermione
Notes: Commission for [info]belovedranger to accompany her absolutely beautiful Year Seven Ron/Hermione fic, Reach. Quite a prophetic look at the Horcrux Hunt, if you ask me. :)
Summary: " Because she’s grinning down at you, a shy, knowing smile. Shaking her head, and it thrills you... She does know. And her fingers settle, entwined with yours. She loves you. And while your need rises, so does the fight in your system. You’ll not give any of this up. Ever. It’s not a cause, on behalf of some distant belief system. It is very real. Harry needs you by his side. Hermione needs you in her heart. There’s nothing else."

OMG Hermione has no pants. )

Hehe. Just kidding. I actually took that picture to prove to my sister that I accidentally made Hermione look like her.

First, I'm gobsmacked - totally blown away - by the response to "Stay Close to Me." I'm not sure there's an adequate way to say thank you for the feedback you guys gave me. And yes - I'm aware that Sirius looks like Jesus. ROFLMAO. Jesus was a convict too, right? :)

Secondly, it's come to my attention that I'm not getting all my birthday notifications from LJ. This distresses me greatly. Because I hate granting birthday wishes and finding out later that I've left friends out. :( A happy birthday to [info]eeyore9990, [info]major_dallas, [info]caeline, [info]miss_eponine, [info]hgrhr, and more, I'm sure, that I'm missing! I hope you all had, or will have, wonderful birthdays! :)

Thirdly, I swear I'm not gonna beat this horse anymore. :) It started out as a sort of study in facial expressions, and I got carried away with teh smooches. Like, wicked carried away. After it was done, I intended to post this up on Ginny's birthday. But alas, RL=FTL.

I took my time with this one. It's been a long time - two years - since I drew the counterpoint to the picture below, "Seeker No More". I tried to recall a little of that prior composition in creating this one and went about coloring it slowly, because I loved this scene and I wanted to make the drawing of it last. :)

Thank you, [info]glockgal for your excellent beta help on this. I can't say how incredible it was for me to be in the same room with you as you helped me, yet again, be a better artist.

Thank you also, to [info]worri and [info]evilcalling (thanks, [info]mosaic) for being fantastic references and for being made of win. They may just be my new OTP.

Lastly, Prophecy was incredible. I'm running on 4 hours sleep right now, and it's after midnight, so let me just leave it at that until I can get my head screwed on straight again so I can talk about it. ([info]hp5freak, you're going to hear from me soon, I promise!) :) Good night!

It took ages to finish, what with work and DH and all, but it's done and I'm so excited to bring it up to Toronto on Thursday. Moreover, it's nice to have it up here on Harry's Birthday! :)

Title: "A Visit to Hagrid's"
Rating: G
Medium: Acrylic
Characters: Hagrid, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Fang :)
Notes: This was a really exciting project, as it was an opportunity to dive into a medium I'm really sort of discovering how to master (hence, it took ages to complete). The painting was completed on Watercolor board, which worked nicely with the diversity of the Acrylic medium seeing as it can flow like a watercolor and layer like oils. The canvas is just short of 22 x 28, so it is the largest picture I've ever completed! To give you an idea of what went into creating it, I have some production shots below:

Commission for [info]honeybean
Guys, I'm actually wicked nervous about this commish - it's my first Tom Riddle, and I drew it for the queen of Tom Riddle art (IMO), [info]honeybean. She's a huge Tom fan, and draws him beautifully, and she came up with the idea for me to draw Tom's confrontation with his father, Tom Riddle, Sr. More interesting to me was her additional prompt that Tom, Jr. should not only look like his evil self, but maintain a vestige of the human being he once was - to look at his father in such a way as to connote not just hate, but the bitterness of abandonment. I LOVED this idea.

It was a tough order, but I did my best. :)

Title: My Filthy Muggle Father
Medium: Ink
Rating: PG because Voldemort's dad is about to be snuffed.
Characters: Tom Riddles Jr. and Sr.
Summary: "...[H]e murdered the Muggle man who had abandoned his witch mother, and, for good measure, his Muggle grandparents, thus obliterating the last of the unworthy Riddle line and revenging himself upon the father who never wanted him." - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Chapter 17: A Sluggish Memory
Artist's Note: This is the breaking point for Tom, Jr. I think, so I tried to make him as monstrous as I could without losing the handsome features that were his trademark. I hope it worked. :)

A Mucho Happy Birthday to the ever lovely [info]emeraldstag and the incomparable [info]witherwings7! I hope you guys had an awesome day with much outdoor cooking and cake!

Before I pass out for the night, I come bearing belated b-day art for [info]madeof_stars. She's always remembered me on my birthday, surprising me this year with a ginormous basket of generosity chocolate, so it stands to reason that I reciprocate with some sweetness of the guilt-free variety! :) She was one of my very first LJ friends (we're talkin' 2005, yo), is a champion of H/G artwork, and a fabulous writer. So I figured... why not do a little half-and-half art and fiction for the connoisseur in a medium that brings me back to those days when I was a baby fandomite?

Title: Under the Cloak
Medium: Graphite
Rating: PG
Characters: Harry, Ginny
Summary: "Let's get out of here."

He calls me the sneaky one. )

So as you know, I've been working for the government without internet access for about as long as I've been off LJ. But today, I discovered that there's a Caribou Coffee near work with free Wi-Fi! Hurrah! So needless to say, I'm bringing my lappy to work tomorrow in the hopes of playing catch-up. Again, I'm sorry I've gone off the map. But while I'll still be a bit sparce, I hope teh Caribou shall help me be less so. ;)

Good night. :)

GBPs, some BoG, SC pimpage and a commission for [info]sktypied
Oh man. I didn't think it was possible to suck at LJ, but apparently I do. For the last couple of weeks I've been knee-deep in work and fandom projects, and I'm starting to think I'm becoming an internet hermit because of it. As in, there's so much RL stuff happening, that I'm missing out over here like whoa. I know lots of you won't believe me when I say I really am trying to reply as much as I can get in without aggravating the wrist, but just know that I really do appreciate the comments you leave. :)

So let me first start off by wishing a very, very happy birthday to [info]madeof_stars, [info]zorb, [info]ehnel, [info]themadams_lair, and [info]the_ladys_opal. I know I'm not around as much, but just know that you're all extraordinary and special people, and I feel so lucky fandom brought us in contact! (C, you've got something coming in the mail, btw.)

Next, teh pimpage.

SpellCast FTW! )

And finally some art:

For the "Blades of Glory" enthusiast (okay, so I actually drew it for [info]hill_, who *might* just love BoG more than I do!), I give you the Jimmy MacElroy Trading Card. I hosted it over on [info]blades_of_glory because not everyone is slave to the glory that is "Blades" like I am. ;) So just click on the icon to see it. It's rated G.

And this one I'm almost tempted to ask someone to write a drabble for. When [info]sktypied asked for a Harry/Draco commish, I was a little apprehensive because, well, I generally don't think there's all that much to redeem about Draco's character. But hey, I'm up for a challenge, and this turned out to be one of my favorite commishes.

Title: "Three's a Crowd"
Rating: PG for H/D-ness
Characters: Harry, Draco, and Smokey the Cat ([info]sktypied's pet)
Medium: Colored Pencil/Ink
Summary: When Ty asked for her cat to be in the picture, this scenario was the first thing that came to mind. Harry obviously hit the hay first, stealin' all the pillows, and Smokey got comfortable... before Malfoy could get the chance to get comfy himself. ;) Probably not realistic or canonical, but it totally makes me smile.

Don't tickle sleeping dragons. )

Back from lunch after a lovely conversation with [info]belladonna_tb to thank her for the ridiculously generous b-day gift she mailed me. But during said conversation, it came to my attention that it has been a little while since I've checked the fandom e-mail address, so let me start this off by saying that if you haven't heard from me after sending me an e-mail, you'll hear from me by the end of today, as I will be emptying out the inbox. :)

Before I completely leave the topic of b-day gifts, you guys gotta see the shirt that [info]pennswoods sent me with her adorable little fanart!Trevor the Toad! I'm bringing it to Phoenix Rising, baby! Also, Shannon, I hope your wedding was magnificent and everything you hoped for! I cannot express how happy I am for you - you're an amazing person through and through and deserve all the happiness that your future together with your husband will hold! Until your wedding gift is finished, this photo will have to do:

I TRUST TREVOR! )

Phoenix Rising! )

SpellCast Episode 21 is up with Borders Art Gallery Interviews, and Spinner's Alley is gonna be da BOMB. )

And lastly, teh art. I promised this to [info]redblaze ages ago and I'm happy I could finish it in time for Phoenix Rising. It features what I like to call "Bad Boy!Ron" who is not only beefier, edgier, and has an earring, but who wears a leather jacket in [info]redblaze's story! :D

Title: I'm Ready!
Rating: G
Medium: Alias Sketchbook Pro/Photoshop
Characteres: Ron, Harry, Hermione
Notes: This picture was a practice in textures. I tried to make it look all 3D and stuff, but I'm not sure how well it worked considering my weakness with perspective. Also, all three of them look rather different from my usual conception of the trio, in part because they are older and intricately described in Redblaze's story, and in part because the brightness of my screen was too high for me to realize that I was giving Hermione a wicked tan! ;)
Summary: “Okay!” she yelled from the bathroom, and then opened the door. She stood there wearing a very pretty blue blouse that was neatly tucked into her khakis. She’d braided her hair in the bathroom, and stray wisps of curly hair were already escaping the long braid, but Ron thought it looked lovely like that. “I’m ready.” - "Home for the Holidays" by [info]redblaze (Rated R)

I think you look sexy as hell. )

And with that, I depart for New Orleans!

I actually got weepy drawing this. I've been rereading Book One on the bus to and from work and have been itching to draw it ever since the poll. Finally, as of this week, the idea had a purpose. Little did I know I'd be a hormonal idiot when I finished it! *snuggles him*

In any case, this picture is my gift for [info]peachespig and [info]helianthemum. Congratulations on your bundle of joy, and may your little one, like Harry, grow up to do great things. :)

Title: The Boy Who Lived
Medium: Watercolors
Rating: G
Characters: Professor McGonagall, Hagrid, Dumbledore, and Wee!Harry :D
Summary: "Is that where-?" whispered Professor McGonagall.

"Yes," said Dumbledore. "He'll have that scar forever."

"Couldn't you do something about it, Dumbledore?"

"Even if I could, I wouldn't. Scars can come in handy. I have one myself above my left knee that is a perfect map of the London Underground. Well - give him here, Hagrid - we'd better get this over with."
